Father Angelo Secchi, S.J.

Fr. Angelo Secchi S.J. (1818-1878) is considered one of the founding father of modern astrophysics, in light of his extensive pioneering work in stellar spectroscopy. It was largely through his efforts that the Pontifical Observatory at the Roman College was established and grew in renown.
